We're back from our vacation and it was lovely. We're thankful for a wonderful, relaxing time, and especially for safe travel there and back. These pictures are of our first couple days, when we were in Lake Tahoe. I took over 1400 pictures, so there are definitely more to come! Enjoy :)
This gorgeous lake was swimmable, although a bit cool. The sand was like millions of tiny pebbles which did a great job exfoliating your feet. The kids enjoyed running in and out of the water...
and playing in the sand (and eating some too of course).
As it was quite warm, several of us did venture in for a dip or swim.
The land behind the lake was quite marshy
And the mountain range behind us was GORGEOUS! Do you see John hiking up there anywhere?! (Yes, he was up there somewhere! This is also our motorhome for this trip.)
Our campground had a pool and we all enjoyed it in the heat of the day.
This little fish is looking forward to some swimming lessons.

Our second day, we dropped of three of the guys to go hiking. Then Melissa and I were dropped off to walk around Taylor Creek Visitor Center and walk back to the campsite.
The visitor center had a nice walking path with signs and bridges.
This was the coolest teaching tool I've seen in awhile - it was a pond profile - an actual pond which you could check out through the glass. VERY neat! We watched the fish and waterfall for quite awhile.
As we continued on the boardwalk, it was submerged ankle deep in water. It felt good on such a warm day and we paused to enjoy the refreshment!
More refreshment followed at Camp Richardson's old fashioned ice cream parlour :)
Brynlie was happy to leave the stroller as we ate our ice cream.
Walking on, both girls fell asleep as it was nap time :) I love how their postures are the same! It was a very long walk as we followed our given directions precisely and missed a turn off, walking more than 2 miles in the wrong direction. When we figured out we were on the wrong highway (thanks to a good map from Denny's), we turned around and were both quite exhausted. It was HOT, the girls had woken up and we weren't looking forward to walking another hour+ to get 'home'. We saw a bus go by, and I commented to Melissa that "a bus ride would be nice, but we didn't even see any bus stops." A few minutes later, we came up to a sign labelled 'bus stop.' "That's nice, I said, but how long would we have to wait for a bus?!" At that exact moment, a bus pulled up!!! We asked him if he was going where we needed to go (the Y area) and he was. It was $2 per person, kids were free, and we hopped on as quickly as possible! A little stunned perhaps, but thankful for this 'God thing' as we both looked at each other to call it.
Moving on after 2 days in Lake Tahoe. Motorhome rides were frequent but the kids were glad not o have to 'carseat' the 3 to 5 hour drives. They got along fairly well. Here they're playing on the bed above the cab.
Brynlie learned to sleep anywhere :)
We stopped for a playground / stretch break here.
Brynlie had just woken up and she watched the excitement from the grass for awhile.
'Aunts' are wonderful - they give you slide rides
and help you climb rock walls.

and getting some exercise after a bit of driving!
