of the birds

This morning we had a birding moment when Mom M was enjoying the birds out the window and decided she'd better call some other birders to come take a look.  Soon the powerful camera and binos were busy at work.
A few of the common redpolls they were enjoying.
There were literally hundreds of these birds, flying in a flock and enjoying our tree.

A possible hoary redpoll made it much more exciting...can you tell if it is one?

 Meanwhile, on the inside...
And this photographer had his models posed and ready :)
A couple of extras for the afternoon kept Chelsie and themselves busy :)
Enjoy the last day of 2011!

It was great

to be in Wisconsin
to be with Carolyn and Brody
to enjoy the littlest sweet boy
to work with Brody on the farm project
to enjoy the sunrise
to bask in the sunshine (inside)
to see the farm where they hope to move to
to bake together
 to play piano together
to photoshop together
to have cousin time
to play together
to laugh together
to shop together
to get clean together (as kids)
to relax together

 to read stories together
to enjoy these chubby cheeks and legs
to go out to eat together

 to have friend time
 to give kisses
 to be crazy together

to enjoy more chubby cheeks and grins
 to watch daddies leave together

 and beat them up together

to simply BE together.

We hope we'll still be welcome back despite bringing the flu and an eye infection to WI.
So sorry for both!  THANKS for everything.  It WAS great.  Love, us

For Cam

Dear Carm,  While there wasn't a piece saved in the freezer, there were pictures taken of Chelsie's birthday cake.

Thanks for looking :)

Our beautiful home

Simon saw Chilliwack!  And loved it :)  So glad to live here - it's our special part of God's creation.
Enjoy!

Sir Hiss

We had the privilege of studying one of God's smaller creatures for the past few days.  At work on Thursday, Dave D caught a garter snake which Brian delivered to us in an empty Tim Hortons cup, lid firmly closed.  This little guy became our pet until today.  Chelsie was excited to bring him to preschool to show her friends.  We researched his habitat needs, food needs (small worms),

and enjoyed (mostly) watching him for several days.  As Chelsie aptly put it, "Sir Hiss makes Mommy a little nervous."  (It was more his acrobatics up the side of his container that made me nervous.)

This afternoon we set him free, as we all agreed he would live more happily in the backyard than in his small sour key container.  Enjoy the pictures.
