Kawkawa camping

During August, we enjoyed a long weekend away from home, camping nearby in Hope at Kawkawa Lake.  We had beautiful weather until Monday, then we enjoyed some cool weather with rain.  It's a picture heavy post - enjoy!

The first night we were there, we enjoyed supper with Les and Krista, who'd camped there that week and left the following day.  Chelsie and Tyler enjoyed a Rubbermaid bath - together in one tub!

A beautiful sunny day was perfect for pulling Daddy and Brynlie around the swimming area.  This floatation device got a lot of use in the days we were there!

 Kayla and Brian went out to the rope swing.  Brian tried it out first, then Kayla and her friend.  These pictures are zoomed as far as I could from the beach.  Here's Kayla about to let go..

 These girls enjoyed everything about camping - the company, the relaxing, the swimming, the marshmallows...

 and the corn on the cob for supper :)  While Chelsie was enjoying this,

 Brynlie was so exhausted that she was sleeping sitting up!! :D  We were laughing pretty hard!

We went to a lovely little church in Hope on Sunday morning, and after lunch we went to Othello Tunnels.

 We watched the salmon jumping up the rapids for awhile -what a job!

 After the tunnels, we went for a little drive and found this beautiful wetland area!

 More swimming and looking for fish to catch in the new net...

 That evening 6 raccoons came down from the tree above our tent trailer...this one knew that Brynlie left 'snacks' on the ground for him and headed straight for under her seat.  Apparently this family is quite a pest in the campground.

 And then it rained....all of Monday!  Yet we cheerfully sat outside,

 made a craft at a neighbouring campsite,

 and caught raindrops dripping from the tarp :)

 In the morning there was a break from the rain, so we went canoeing.  Although Chelsie and Brian enjoyed it, Brynlie did NOT like her life jacket and she cried almost the whole time, which was a bit tough on me!  But when she wasn't crying the lake was still, the air was fresh, and the company was perfect :)

 It was definitely tough for her to move in this thing lol!

 Monday evening, some brave visitors came up to our rainy site and enjoyed supper and a fire with us.  Despite the rain, it was very gezellig :)

 As we cleaned and packed up, Brynlie sat (yet again) in her seat at the picnic table, enjoying the sites.

Our last morning, Chelsie got a ride with her friend Caitlin in Caitlin's car.  She'd been hoping to go every day, but the rule was 'only between 10 and 5' and it hadn't worked out yet.  She was beaming as they enjoyed their 5 minute cruise around the campsite.
