We are in China!

Well, folks, we're here safely. Our flight to Tokyo was quite nice, smooth, and actually went fairly fast. Trichelle suggested we ask for bulkhead seats, and when we did, we were given Premium Economy seats- nice wide ones with foot rests and individual tv screens, and enough foot space to completely stretch out with room to spare. VERY spoiling! Chelsie was a real trooper - she fell asleep before we took off (nap time) and sucking on her finger kept her ears okay as we went up. I transferred her to the baby bassinet after we were safely in the air, and she slept for more than an hour. When she woke up, she had lunch, enjoyed finding the toys we'd packed in her little backpack, and got Daddy to read her some books. Around 7:30 our time, I put her back in the bassinet, but she just talked, snuggled with teddy, and looked around. I snuggled her back to sleep around 8, and she slept until we had to take her out for landing at 10:15ish. She was not impressed to be woken up from her 'night's' sleep, but she did alright. It was 2:30 Japan time when we landed, so we kept her awake until night...this took some ingenuity. After getting to our hotel, we enjoyed some ice cream before taking a bus into Narita, a neighbourhood of Tokyo (i think!). We found an ATM, then a McDonald's, then we walked 15 minutes to a very fascinating temple. Think about 10-15 buildings, very ornate and Japanese.

It was already around 6, so the buildings weren't open, but it was still very neat to see. While we were there, a gong show occurred ;) Two guys were ringing in the hour or a prayer time or something. We returned to the bus stop and caught the bus back to the hotel. Chelsie was fast asleep in my arms before we got back, and she slept pretty good for most of the night. I was awake around 2, and heard her snuggling with teddy, and a sneeze made her startle and cry, but all was resolved quickly :) This morning, we had breakfast at the hotel, thanks to a discount coupon given us by the concierge, and then caught our flight to Dalian. Our flight was once again starting at the convenient time of nap time, and Chelsie was sleeping again before we took off. *All these snuggle times are special! She slept until we were ready for landing - the whole flight of over 2 hours! We were in normal seats this time (no spoiling today ;)). Trichelle and Breyden were there to welcome us after immigration and getting our many suitcases. We're at their home now and will head out once Dave's home from teaching...the 2 kids will be down for a nap in a few minutes. Breyden keeps looking for 'presents' in my suitcase :) He knows how these things work and was very excited to see presents from Auntie Melissa! We'll space them out a bit, I think...That's all for now - lunch is on the table...Love you all!

I'm happy to hear the flight went so well! You just never know how the little ones will take those long flights. I remember how long a plane trip feels to Asia to an adult, let alone a child.Hope you have an awesome trip!

sounds like the flight went great, I miss you guys like crazy, but it sure was fun to come home from school and find a card in the mail. I love Chelsie's writing.
